Vetspire, the AI Operating System for Veterinary Practices, Receives a Significant Growth Investment from Battery Ventures

Vetspire, a leading AI operating system for veterinary practices, today announced a significant growth investment from Battery Ventures, a global, technology-focused investment firm. Operating as a standalone business, Vetspire will use the funds to accelerate product innovation and AI development to continue supporting veterinary teams of every size as they care for the growing pet population.

Alongside the investment, healthcare-software executive Zachary Seely has joined Vetspire as CEO. He joins the existing Vetspire leadership team, including President Joe Mazzarella, who remains focused on delivering world-class support and experience to the company’s growing base of veterinary customers.

“Vetspire is already operating at the cutting edge of veterinary software, and I am thrilled to lead the organization as it ramps up innovation in its next phase of growth,” said new CEO Seely. “As an independent company, we’ll continue investing in the platform, particularly in AI, to make every clinic and hospital we serve more efficient and more clinically effective.” Before joining Vetspire, Seely served as CEO of FSI, a healthcare facility maintenance software platform serving acute care facilities across the U.S.

Vetspire’s AI-powered practice management system is a system of record at the heart of a veterinary practice, unifying medical records, scheduling, billing and payments, inventory and client communications across one integrated platform. AI capabilities are embedded throughout, including AI scribe functionality, patient-summarization and clinical-assistant tools that reduce administrative burden and give veterinary teams more time with patients. The platform gives single-location vet practices the same enterprise-grade capabilities that power the largest multi-location veterinary organizations, including Thrive Pet Healthcare, Petfolk, and Heart + Paw, among many others. Vetspire’s technology is currently in use at more than 800 pet hospitals and clinics.

“We think Vetspire has a tremendous opportunity to grow as a forward-thinking, independent provider of technology for veterinary practices, from large, multi-site operators to smaller independent clinics,” said Chelsea Stoner, general partner at Battery Ventures. “And the timing couldn’t be better: Many pets adopted during the Covid era are getting older and will need increasing levels of care over the next several years.”

“Vetspire is the rare platform that veterinarians actually love using, and its embedded AI turns hours of daily paperwork into more time caring for pets,” added Dillon Joyce, principal at Battery Ventures. Battery has a long history of backing high-profile, specialty-healthcare EHR and practice-management platforms, including Brightree, ClearCare, ContinuumCloud, Curve Dental and WebPT.

As a result of this investment, Thrive Pet Healthcare remains a committed, long-term customer of Vetspire but has no ownership in the business going forward. For Thrive, operating its network on a common system has enabled greater consistency in clinical and business workflows across its hospitals.

“Vetspire has been the right platform to scale across our large network of hospitals. Its continued focus on innovation, including the integration of AI across the platform, has been a real asset to our operations,” said Tad Stahel, CEO of Thrive Pet Healthcare. “We’re looking forward to seeing veterinary teams across the industry benefit from this technology as it continues to evolve with additional resources and capital from Battery Ventures.”

Vetspire’s product, engineering, and customer-success teams will continue to serve customers without interruption, backed by expanded investment in the company’s products, support, and AI innovation.
